Rob Zombie has a huge show at Rock Fest 2011. Rob Zombies show included fire, smoke, lights, costumes, set changes, confetti, and even a few fireworks, not to mention he played a few White Zombie licks. The show ended Thursday night with a bang as the VIP section was allowed up on stage twice for a total of 7 songs. Rob didn’t just treat the VIP section as he jumped off stage with a deer shiner and ran through the VIP crowd and along the wall to get up close to the fans outside the VIP area. It is hard to beat a show but on by Mr. Zombie as he has been touring for over 20 years. I would imagine this as being one of the top Rock Fest stage performances of all time.
I had a blast doing concert photography of the Rob Zombie show. Being able to shoot concerts at night can be tough but having the right equipment is paramount to getting high quality publishable images. Rob Zombie’s show has the benefit of added light from fire and the diffusion effects of smoke but at the same time has the disadvantage of constant motion and action.
